Caregiver Resources - Transportation

Sooner Ride provides free transportation for active Medicaid recipients to and from non-emergency medical appointments and prescription pick-up. Call 1-877-404-4500.
Transportation services are available to elders in nearly every city and town in Oklahoma. Elder transportation services travel to various locations, including medical/doctor offices, discount stores, grocery stores, congregate meal sites, senior citizen centers, or other social and recreational events. Often, if a transportation service provider is located in a suburb, it will also travel to the nearest metro area.
Not all transportation services provide all of these services. Some provide door-to-curb service and require reservations, while others have fixed routes. It is recommended that you schedule transportation services at least one week in advance.

The cost for a one-way trip varies. Many services are free. Others may cost $2-$5 each way. Services with wheelchair accessibility and lifts may cost more. Some services provide elders with discount coupons for taxicab fares or public transportation.

Generally, transportation services require participants to be 60 or older or disabled. Identification may be required to use these services, and some require the participant to apply in advance and prove eligibility.

If an elder requires a wheelchair lift, request one, as not all transportation services provide this service.

You can locate a transportation provider by contacting your Area Agency on Aging or by calling the Senior Info Line at 1-800-211-2116 (or 211).
